Hi and welcome,
As mentioned in our last post, The Bounce Blog has transitioned to, “Change is Possible,” now hosted by Nugent Therapy. In our last blog post, we explored the importance of acknowledging the grief and loss as a result of challenges in 2020, and the emotional remnants carried over into this year.
So now what?
Last year, unforeseen obstacles were common. Just when we thought we were turning a corner, it seemed something else would threaten our fragile, hopeful outlook. It’s expected that we would have some trepidation about the future.
How do we move forward optimistically while concerned about our livelihood, and the health and safety of our families?
Pandemic-related anxiety is real. On it’s own it can be paralyzing, but it can also worsen other mental health disorders. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be effective in helping to manage our thought life which influences our behavior, especially when faced with circumstances beyond our control.
It is very human to shy away from uncertainty. Being aware and prepared with information can begin to shift our thinking. Here are a few facts:
-
COVID-19 vaccinations are increasingly prevalent and available
-
Schools and businesses are beginning to open with less restrictions
-
There is a lot of scientific related data available to inform and guide us towards staying healthy.
Acknowledging that the pandemic was a source of immense stress, and continuing to be knowledgeable about how to care for ourselves and loved ones, can help us feel empowered and minimize the distress of the unknown.
As we continue to recover collectively from COVID, mentally, physically and emotionally it is important for us to accept how unnatural it may feel to resume what we think of as routine. Being patient with ourselves and others can help us continue to make progress together in a safe and healthy way.
Thoughts to Ponder:
-
What are your concerns about interacting with others with less COVID-19 restrictions?
-
What are you most looking forward to as businesses and schools return to normal, in-person schedules? What causes feelings of anxiety when you think about “returning to normal?”
-
What are some go-to self care practices established during stay-at-home that you will continue once restrictions are lifted?

Hello, I like your opening statement about acknowledging grief and loss. Now what?
It’s on everybody’s mind.
My answers to thoughts to ponder:
1. I work with kids and pre-pandemic I already hated that parents sent kids to all activities sick.
2. I think we are going to have a “new normal.” 1 in 5 of my neighbors now happily works from home. Many of them are planning to have a work-from-home schedule. Who knows if they’ll live up to their word? Some kids like online classes, some hate them. I have both types of students but they like my class. I want to run my speaker training business online and do 2-3 live events per year. That’s something that was unheard of in the speaking industry just a few years ago.
3. Go to self-care: skipping and guided meditation.
thanks for the read

These are some really great points that you have highlighted! I believe that we all should be a little considerate towards each other as we don’t know what the other person is going through. I also had anxiety and then I started taking remote therapy from Sprout Family Clinics. I must admit that my mental health has started improving.

Now that pandemic has subsided a great deal. Most of the countries are now open, it appears to be business as usual. But during pandemic, those restraining lockdowns, depression had created havoc with my sleeping patterns. I found it hard to sleep and thought these lockdowns and restraining public behavior is going to be the norm for a long time.

Look, I don’t want to be rude or anything I mean this with all respect but to those that are saying: “It’s not even that bad I don’t see why they are depressed. People have been through worst things.
